Kaneohe
Situated on the southeastern coast of Oaju, Kaneohe extends from the foothills of Koolau Range to Kaneohe Bay. The name Kaneohe means “bamboo man,” as according to an ancient Hawaiian legend, a woman once compared her husband’s cruelty to the sharp edge of a bamboo stalk. As one of the two largest residential communities on the windward side of Oaju, the community boasts magnificent waters and the picturesque Koolau Mountains as a prime backdrop.
In the early 1900s, Kaneohe became a prime sugar-producing area, with plantations and refineries luring people from all over the world to work as sugar plantation farmers. Kaneohe Bay also played a vital role in World War II, as the first bomb site of the war occurred in Oaju. As a result, the community was forced to rebuild both physically and economically, as the war also had a big part in abruptly ending Hawaii’s sugar production industry.
Due to its abundant rainfall, Kaneohe has historically been an important agricultural area. Today, bananas are the only remaining crop that is grown commercially. Because Kaneohe’s silty beaches are not suitable for swimming, the community is less of a tourist destination than other beach areas, making it mainly a residential community. However, it does boast seven-mile Kane’ohe Bay, Hawaii’s largest bay. Another of Kaneohe’s must-see coastal locations is He’eia State Park, with low stone walls that enclose the saltwater lagoon built by ancient Hawaiians. Another nearby destination, Coconut Island, is featured in the rolling credits of Gilligan’s Island.
Inland, Kane’ohe offers several public gardens, including the nature reserve of the free Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden. The Senator Fong’s Plantation, near Kahalu’u in northern Kane’ohe, also let visitors admire flowers, fruits and orchids from the comfort of a tram. Another must-see site is the Buddhist Byodo-In-Temple.
Adjacent to the community of Kailua, and about thirty minutes from downtown Honolulu, the commercial center of Kaneohe is located mainly along Kamehameha Highway. Kaneohe is also home to the Marine Corps Base and the Windward Mall. For recreation, Kaneohe boasts three golf courses: the Pali Golf Course, the Ko’olau Golf Club, and Bayview Golf Course.

“Aloha! I have worked with Adrienne for several years. She is the hardest worker and the most knowledgeable realtor I know. And there is nobody better than Team Lally when it comes to Short Sales! That’s why I used her! Her Team sold my home! And they make it easy with their outstanding team! And their marketing is 2nd to none! I highly recommend Adrienne and Team Lally!!”
“Team Lally has been very helpful during our short sale process. They are committed to us and have a lot experience in short sales so it makes it much smoother to complete this long drawn out process. I am thankful for all their help, expertise, and patience during this short sale. I absolutely recommend Team Lally for anyone who wants an experienced Team working for them in the real estate and housing market.”
“I am a retired, disabled veteran. In the summer of 2013, I faced significant financial, professional, and personal challenges. At the center of these challenges was the fact that my home was under water and I could not continue making payments. I had previously worked with three other real estate agents on island (two from major companies and one independent) and could not better my situation. Facing the brink of foreclosure and financial ruin, I called Team Lally on a recommendation from a friend. From that moment forward, I was able to take comfort in the belief that these people would achieve the best possible outcomes for my circumstance. While all Team Lally members went above and beyond to help me, I would like to highlight a few.Adrienne Lally, President/Team Lally – Simply the best real estate professional I have ever worked with. Within 36 hours of first contact, she had personally assessed my home and situation, and developed a cogent, strategic plan for presentation, foreclosure avoidance, and best-pricing. Her knowledge of the Hawaii real estate market is beyond reproach and she repeatedly took the time to answer every question and concern that I had. As a veteran herself, she offered unique insight on my circumstance and developed a rapport I found with no other real estate agent. Most importantly, she maintained consistent contact throughout the process via weekly updates, even after I left the islands. I was never just a number to Adrienne Lally. If I am e…
“Team Lally are great. I have not had the chance to buy a house yet but I know that whenever we walk in the office we are considered not only a valued customer but as family. I am lucky to have them on my side.”
“Team Lally was very professional throughout the entire process of selling my house. They got it on the market quickly, and within a week it had sold!”
“Mrs Lally was very aggressive with advertising and putting our home out there. She sold our house 5 days after listing. Wow! We were excited and very impressed with her quick sale. We will definetly use her services again when we sell our next home.”
“Adrienne helped my husband and I purchase our first home and we can’t say enough about how wonderful she is! Being first-time homebuyers, we had a lot of questions and Adrienne was there with us through every step of the way. From beginning to end, her advice and expertise was invaluable and we couldn’t be happier with the results. She absolutely has our recommendation!”
“Last year my wife and I came to Hawaii for a quick to buy a house for our impending move to the islands. Cherrie worked hard and helped us to get under contrsct and then close the deal. Hats off to the Lally Team”
“We interviewed three different Realtors and we Team Lally were incredibly organized and impressive. We hired them to help us find a home in Hawaii. They had such great local knowledge and incredibly responsive. True Professionals!! Unfortunately, my job situation changed and we ended up not buying a home, but if we are coming back we know who we would work with. Team Lally is #1 in our book!”
“Awesome experience with TEAM LALLY! We sold the home faster than expected with professional service from TEAM LALLY. I’d recommend their services to anyone coming or going to Hawaii! The team concept was what sold us on the service they could provide. It’s nice to know that every aspect of the process is covered by people who specialize in that area. Buying Agents just focus on the buyers, Listing Agents just focus on selling your home and understanding the market at the time, processing agents become your main contact after you are “under contract” for specialized customer service. Howard was very responsive with all our questions, it was as if he never left the office! Thanks TEAM LALLY!”
